For the flats challenge this week, I am using flour sack towels during the day and stretchy bamboo flats at night. I was nervous about the night diapers because I’ve been using Ecoposh OBV overnight and anything else besides disposables will leak. Last night went really well and the diaper was not even saturated.
I wanted to calculate a total cost for the materials I am using this week if you wanted to buy a stash of flats and covers. The Imagine stretchy bamboo flats come in a pack of 3 for $20, so they are the most expensive part of this stash. In contrast, the flour sack towels are less than $1 each. Since Oliver is older I use two at a time. Covers can range in price, but a solid color Rumparooz cover like I use is $14 each. You can find them on Facebook BST groups for less than that. We have been using about 8-10 FST total per day, and 3-4 covers. The FST and covers dry overnight if I hang them inside, or even faster outside in the sun, so while I have a lot more than I use in a day you could easily buy enough for one day and wash each night.
